So this is my first time writing on a blog. Kind of exciting and therapeutic to be able to write down your thoughts and feelings. I currently feel proud. Proud to have a child that has dreams, goals and aspirations to be someone that can make a difference. Not only in her community but in other people's lives. It gives the feeling that I did something right. That I did my job as a parent and that I inspired her to pursue her dreams of attending a university and obtaining a degree.

I myself had dreams as a teenager. I used to dream of becoming a nurse or maybe even a doctor. I always excelled in school. I was always in the top of my class and was always praised by my teachers. I knew I had the capability of following my dreams but I came from a broken home. My mother worked long days and was not always there to push me to follow my dream. It wasn't that she didn't care but she herself only completed middle school, which is typical in the Mexican culture. She just didn't know of all the opportunities that were out there for me or how to go about obtaining them.

Aside from not having a supportive family, I made some decisions that completely changed my life and that veered me farther away from my dream. I became a statistic. I became a teenage mother. I made the choice to become a teenage mom and I don't regret it one bit. I am truly blessed to be the mother of 2 great children and have dedicated my life to them. As soon as they were born I decided that I would do everything within my power to instill in them that they can be anything they want to be. I made a vow to myself that I would support them in any way possible and open their eyes to all of the possibilities that were out there for them and to help them fulfill their dreams.

Seeing my daughter have dreams and goals give me a great sens of accomplishment. A sense that all of my sacrifices have not been in vain. Witnessing my daughter have goals and follow her dreams makes me the proudest mom in the world.

August blog #3

http://videos.antville.org/
In searching for a blog that I found interesting and cool, I came upon a blog that discovers the next best upcoming talent by letting people post videos. This is sounds similar to YouTube, but the difference is that this video sharing blog only allows music video posts. The purpose of this blog is to allow people to upload videos of what they think are remarkable musicians with remarkable music. This creates a mecca for upcoming musical stars. The speaker of this blog is its members who post videos. The speakers do not have ethos for two reasons. One, the information of the members who post videos isn't given, therefore their credibility isn't known. Also, the speakers lack ethos because what they think is good music, might be the worst music ever heard to another person. The audience is composed of people who are interested in new music talents, or people who just would to listen to something new. One thing I like about this blog is that it only allows music. It's some what painstaking to find music on other video sharing websites because they're not devoted to music like this blog is. I also like how it has direct links to where the video originated from. If descriptions were to be added to the videos, it would make it easier in regards to finding a video someone would think they would like. One thing that this blog has that I would like to assimilate into my blog is the calender it has at the bottom.

August Blog # 1

Three ways Mitt Romney uses the Aristotelian appeal, pathos, in his presidential ad campaign are appealing to family, money and patriotism. Romney appeals to family towards the end of the video when he is seen with his wife. This appeals to families because it shows that he is married and values his wife which makes him admirable. The second appeal he uses in his ad campaign is patriotism. When Romney first begins to speak, the is an American flag behind him. This shows that he is proud of his country and by being proud of his country. The last type of pathos he uses is appealing to money. In his campaign ad Romney states "I believe the American People are being over taxed...I believe we're spending to much money and that's got to stop" . By stating that the American people are being over taxed it insinuates that if elected president, he will stop over taxation. This is especially important to the people at this time because of the current economy and everyone wanting to save money.

Through out the video, Romney is always at eye level to people, and never towering. By using this type of camera angle, it portrays that Romney is equal to the people, and not just another power hungry politician. However, at 11 seconds, there is a shot of Mitt Romney taken from below him . By adding this single picture it portrays him as a strong person because the angle. But by only having one frame like this, he doesn't seem to dominant. Also, when Romney is speaking to the public and they begin clapping, the shot moves to the audience making the viewer see his audience. Towards the end of the video, Mitt Romney's name is shown in white with a black background. Following this shot is Mitt Romney speaking. Then the words "Stong.New.Leadership.", again in white font with a solid black background. The last shot of this kind, being the white font and solid black background, simply says "Mitt Romney. President." By having the words in white and the background in black, it attracts the eye to the white and what the saying is. Also, by having a period at the end of each word, it makes it simple and straight to the point. The point being Mitt Romney is a strong new leader and should be voted the next president of the United States.

One very important symbol in this presidential campaign video is at 11 seconds when Mitt Romney is standing, and the word "Executive" is above him. This symbol is used to show how it might be when he is president. It is also used to show his desire to become president. By showing his desire to become president , it convinces the voter to vote for Mitt Romney for President.
